In a city filled with amazing food options and plenty of food events, the Floating Food Festival promised something truly unique and set out to take the humble taco to the next level with four top chefs. All while sipping down margaritas, and taking in the best views NYC has to offer.
A Mariachi band laid out the welcome mat to board the Hornblower Infinity, decked out fiesta-style, and it was straight into the tacos. Which was the best? That’s for you to decide.
Chef Guillermo Vallejo, of NYY Steak, pulled out all the stops with his Carnitas (ribeye) taco, while chef Akiko Thurnauer and Emily Yuen of Bessou added their own two unique twists to the taco with a beef kakuni taco and charred broccoli Taco. Smoke Show’s Jonathan Botta put on a show with a display that let taco aficionados know exactly what they were going to get, a traditional hog bbq taco. And Humberto Guallpa of Calle Dao put his Chinese Cuban stamp on the taco with braised goat.
After some serious tasting it was time to soak up the sights as the Infinity cruised by Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, around Governors Island and more. Check out some of the action below.
A floating food festival has proven itself to be a great way to tempt the tastebuds with top cuisine and the infinity yacht is the perfect floating venue for the city’s newest food festival.
Next up for the Floating Food Festival is BBQ, Bourbon and Bluegrass! It’s all happening September 10th. Chefs will be announced soon, so check back on the Floating Food Festival page for updates, like the Yachta Yachta Yachta Facebook page, or join the Hornblower New York mailing list for updates.
